If you are looking for what you want to eat for lunch, try peaches and bananas. Not only will they fill you, but you will also absorb vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and you will not increase your weight significantly. Not bad if you’re like me, not so young and you look at everything you eat.

But I’m not so lucky, because I do mostly a sedentary job. It’s not that I don’t like my job, but I would like it to be accompanied by real physical activity – just enough to wick away sweat and maintain weight all the time, but not enough to tire ankles, knees, and bones. I’ll need it when I’m 90, like my ninety-year-old friend. Well, by the way, it is.

Peaches and Bananas

To begin with, peaches and bananas complement each other like water and cement. In combination, they will satisfy your hunger and appetite.

Until I started writing this article, I didn’t know that peaches could refresh the body, face, skin appearance, and even slow down the aging process. You don’t need any other reasons to include peaches in your menu, do you?

One afternoon, in particular, I was looking for what to eat for lunch instead of almonds. Normally, I skip lunch because I don’t think lunch is important, especially if you are like me, with a sedentary lifestyle. I sit all day, getting up from time to time to reach out, but I quickly sit in a chair.

The fact is that I don’t do much and therefore don’t deserve much food. Some days, however, when I was hungry (not without guilt), I would go to a nearby store and buy a bag or two of almonds. Immediately, I went back to the car, my finger tore the little plastic bag and the settling nuts, three or five at a time until I finished. After that, I confronted the other gang and dealt them a blow like I did the first time. Each bag contained 130 calories, so this little snack gave me 260 calories.

Most of the time, my hunger disappeared, which allowed me to continue all day long with my sedentary lifestyle to sit in my stools, to get up from time to time if I had to stress a point when I talked to parents and their children, to do my best to alleviate, even temporarily, their physical problems and sometimes their mental suffering.

Don’t get me wrong. Sometimes I go from one consultation room to another, from one side of the small hallway to the refrigerator to choose a vaccine or reach out to search the wall cabinets for a needle, syringe or gloves.

No one in their senses would call any of these activities nothing more than sedentary, for which a heavy load of food, such as crushed yam or Garri, or rice or goat meat or soup or chips or hamburgers or sandwiches, would be unnecessary. That’s why I tried to keep my lunch very simple and limited to almonds.

So that afternoon, while I was looking for something to eat instead of almonds, my mind stopped on bananas and peaches. Well, it’s not that I’ve never eaten bananas or peaches, but I didn’t know it could be such a good substitute for my two packs of almonds at about 260 calories.
